Mrs. Diana has been deeply missed around the office, and we wish her the very best as she focuses on her health. That role is an important one, and we’re grateful for the interest shown so far. If you feel called to apply for the Administrative Assistant position, the application period is still open. We will begin reviewing applications and scheduling interviews during the first week of January 2026, and we’re truly looking forward to connecting with both current applicants and those planning to apply. 2026 is shaping up to be an exciting and forward moving year for Tuckerman, and we’re eager to welcome someone who wants to grow with us.

📢 IMPORTANT FOR TUCKERMAN RESIDENTS

If you’ve received mail from the United States Census Bureau asking you to participate in the American Community Survey (ACS) or any other census-related survey, we kindly ask that you take a few minutes to complete it.

Here’s why it matters ⬇️

These surveys play a major role in helping our city qualify for state and federal grants. The data collected determines our community’s Low- to Moderate-Income (LMI) percentage — a key factor used in government programs, grant approvals, housing assistance, and community development funding.

Right now, our community is rated at approximately 31.92% LMI, but most programs require at least 51% for eligibility. This is a big reason why you may see us missing out on certain funding opportunities.

We especially need participation from all households — not just those in our higher-income brackets. At the moment, it appears that mainly wealthier residents are completing these surveys, which skews our numbers and reduces our chance at critical funding.

📨 If you receive a survey, please take the time to fill it out. Your response directly impacts Tuckerman’s ability to secure future improvements and resources.

Thank you for helping strengthen our community! 💙🏘️

We are thrilled to share that the City of Tuckerman has been awarded 100% grant funding in the amount of $294,889 through the Small, Underserved & Disadvantaged Communities Grant Program!

This funding will be used to replace our current water meters with new smart meters — an important step toward improving accuracy, efficiency, and overall service for our residents. The meter replacement project is planned for 2026, and we are excited for the progress this will bring to our community.

We are committed to continuing our work to secure additional funding opportunities that will help us strengthen and upgrade our city’s infrastructure in the years ahead.

A huge thank you to Wayne Menley with Miller/Newell for his outstanding support and dedication in helping make this grant possible!

Great things are happening in Tuckerman!

Thanks to a recent yard sale and donated items sold online, the animal control committee raised roughly $1,000 to support the community’s ongoing efforts. This money in conjunction with annual budgeted money will go towards planning a new kennel facility, since the current one isn’t on city-owned property. For cats, we’re exploring a spay/neuter and release program, a humane approach many communities use. Your support makes a difference!

We are currently pursuing funding through the ARNC for the following critical infrastructure projects: • Rehabilitation of the Main Sewer Lift and Force Main • Water Meter Replacement Our application remains under review, and we are awaiting further updates. In addition, we are in the process of renewing a bond to secure available monies that would otherwise remain unused. The proceeds will be directed toward ongoing improvements to our community’s water and sewer systems, with a continued focus on repairing and upgrading aging infrastructure to ensure reliable service for all residents.

Our crews are continuing to replace old sewer lines as funding allows. Many of the existing concrete lines are starting to fail, allowing rainwater to infiltrate the system. This infiltration contributes to flushing issues during heavy rainfall. Although our budget is limited, we are making steady progress.

We’re excited to share that the ditch cleaning project along the West outskirts of town running parallel to Jim Denton is nearly complete! This work is part of our ongoing efforts to improve drainage and reduce standing water issues in this area of town. Thank you for your patience as we continue making these improvements to our community.

Public Notice Regarding North Jackson County Rural Water Association (NJCRWA) Customers

Attention NJCRWA Customers:

If your bill resembles the example shown, this information applies to you. The City of Tuckerman Water System (TWS) supplies water to the North Jackson County Rural Water Association (NJCRWA) under contract, as outlined in Resolutions 2009-09 and 2009-10, along with the related operation and maintenance agreement.

Please be advised that NJCRWA is an independent entity with its own governing board and president. Per direction from NJCRWA leadership, the City of Tuckerman and I, as Mayor, do not have the authority to make adjustments to NJCRWA customer accounts without their prior approval.

As a result, approximately 160 NJCRWA customers may experience higher bills this month. For questions or concerns regarding your bill, please contact:

Mr. Jay Haskett, President – (870) 217-3888 (voicemail available if call is not answered)

Other NJCRWA Board Members – Farrell Hutchins, James Cossey, and Marvin Rutherford

Please understand that neither my office, nor the staff who collect payments on behalf of NJCRWA, are authorized to make adjustments or resolve account matters for NJCRWA customers. We respectfully ask that frustrations not be directed toward city staff, who are simply carrying out their duties.

If your bill is blue and you reside within the city limits of Tuckerman, those accounts fall under the City of Tuckerman Water System, and my administration can assist you directly within reason.

For transparency, copies of the resolutions and contracts are available for review at City Hall. NJCRWA’s financial records are also public and can be accessed online. They are also supposed to hold public meetings similar to city council, and customers are encouraged to attend, participate, and hold their board accountable.

The City of Tuckerman remains committed to serving its residents, while also honoring the contractual agreements in place with NJCRWA. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation on this matter.
