🐾 As we get ready for tomorrow’s Low-Cost Vet Clinic, we’re excited to share that we have several adorable pups available for adoption! 🐶💙 We’d also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to "In Loving Memory of Shaina Nicholson" for the generous donation of 30 multicolored collars and leashes. Shaina had a deep love for animals—especially her two cats, Yewshi and Bandit, and her two dogs, Prue and Itsy. 🐾❤️ 👉 Adopting a pup is completely free! A simple dog adoption application is required. Once approved, each pup will go home with a leash and collar. The City of Tuckerman will cover the cost of spay/neuter, microchipping, and a round of vaccinations. Let’s find these sweet dogs their forever homes! 🏡 #TuckermanAdopts #InMemoryOfShaina #AdoptDontShop #LowCostClinic #CommunityCares

📢 Why Didn’t Tuckerman Get Grant Funding? 💧💵 I get asked this a lot — “Why didn’t Tuckerman receive any grant money?” Here’s one real-world example that helps explain: 👉 The Arkansas Department of Agriculture’s Small Water System Grant is designed to help public water systems serving fewer than 10,000 people who meet specific affordability criteria. These grants help small towns make improvements they otherwise couldn’t afford. ✅ Eligible Projects Include: • Water meter replacement or upgrades • Generator quick connections at treatment plants • Planning/design for regionalization or consolidation 📊 Eligibility is based on income and water rates. To qualify, towns must meet one of the following: Annual cost for 4,000 gallons of water must be ≥ 1.5% of Median Household Income (MHI) OR ≥ 51% of residents must be low/moderate income and the water rate must be ≥ 1.25% of MHI 🔍 In Tuckerman: Cost for 4,000 gallons/month = $44.10 Yearly cost = $529.20 MHI = $42,500 $529.20 ÷ $42,500 = 1.24% That 1.24% just misses the 1.5% threshold, so we don’t qualify for this grant. 📌 Bottom line: These calculations and data points—like population and income—come directly from the U.S. Census. That’s why it’s crucial that everyone fills out their census accurately every 10 years. It directly affects our town’s ability to receive funding. Let’s keep working together and stay informed. Every number counts when it comes to building a better Tuckerman.
